Ong Long holds a teaching diploma from the Royal Ballet School UK.
Prior to joining the Academy as an instructor in 1994, she was a professional dancer with the People’s Association Dance Group for 14 years before pursuing her teaching diploma at the Royal Ballet School UK.
Given her extensive experience in ballet and dance, Ong Long is apt at both teaching and choreography, and has facilitated several judging dance competitions and examinations. Many of her students have gone on to pursue careers in dance, of which several have been awarded the prestigious National Arts Council Scholarship to further their education at reputable international dance institutions like the Central Ballet, The Royal New Zealand Ballet School, The Boston Conservatory and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Some of her students have also become professional dancers with the Singapore Dance Theatre, Royal New Zealand Ballet and T.H.E Dance Company. Additionally, Ong Long has nurtured many students who have decided to follow her footsteps to pursue a teaching career or careers in an arts-related field like arts medicine and arts administration.
